With summer drawing near and vacations just around the corner, I decided it would be fun to highlight some of my favorite beachy books. Books that I have loved and would take to the beach with me in an instant. However, I may not make it to the beach this year – if you can, that is awesome! But if you are having a staycation, these books can transport you to a beachy state of mind. I promise!
My first pick is Lysa TerKerurst’s new devotional, You’re Going to Make It – 50 Morning & Evening Devotions to Unrush Your Mind, Uncomplicate Your Heart, and Experience Healing Today.
I didn’t really know what to expect when I ordered this book, but I’ve loved Lysa’s work in the past, so I knew it would be good. And it did not disappoint! I’m actually still reading it – I’m on day 27 as I write this post – and I have to say it is one of THE best devotionals I have ever picked up.
Lysa writes from a place of experience, and she does it all from her healing place on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. There are devotions for morning and then again for evening, and photos of her time at Bald Head are scattered throughout.
The photos of the ocean, and Lysa’s sweet & calming demeanor permeates the pages, making you feel as if you are just sitting across the table, having coffee with an old friend. The Bible verses she chooses are perfect for each entry, and really drew me in.
Lysa really paid attention to all the details of the book, including the cover. It’s a textured hardback, with varying shades of blue, similar to a day on the ocean, and it comes with an attached white satin bookmark to hold your place.
I highly recommend this book – 10 out of 10 stars!
